Audio Systems Designer
Are you an experienced live events audio engineer with strong CAD skills who wants to design the systems, not just deploy them?
Our client is a leading global event technology business. They are growing their UK Technical Delivery team and need an Audio Systems Designer to design safe, effective and commercially sound audio systems for temporary events and live productions.
You’ll be one of four Systems Designers, each focused on a different discipline (Audio, Lighting, Rigging and Video), and you’ll report to the Audio Technical Manager. The role is mainly office based in Uxbridge, with regular site visits and planned time on site so your hands-on skills stay sharp.
The Role
Assess event and production requirements with Project Managers, sales teams and venue staff, then recommend audio solutions that meet the brief
Produce detailed drawings, schematics, renderings, access plans, bills of materials and scopes of work in Vectorworks, ConnectCAD and other CAD tools
Adjust designs to fit the budget, the kit available and commercial kit allocation
Help resourcing teams identify the skills needed to deliver and operate each system
Contribute to design standards, templates, training materials and processes
Keep up to date with new audio products and work with procurement on choosing vendors and equipment
Review events afterwards to see how each design performed, and feed the lessons into future projects
Work alongside onsite delivery teams to solve operational problems, and act as the main contact for third-party vendors and manufacturers
What we’re looking for
Extensive on-site experience in temporary live events, with audio as your specialism
End-to-end knowledge of audio systems, including RF, networking, control systems, cabling and temporary event delivery standards
Highly proficient in Vectorworks and ConnectCAD (2+ years of CAD experience preferred)
Experience dealing with clients and strong written and verbal communication skills
A systems thinker with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
Organised, calm under pressure and able to manage your own workload
Confident with Microsoft 365
Flexible about hours, as the role can include evenings, weekends and on-call cover
What’s on offer
Advanced training with leading audio manufacturers
The chance to shape design standards at a major player in live events
