Commissioning Engineer
New role due to company expansion for an experienced Commissioning Engineer. Our client works with some of the UK’s most recognizable organizations, taking a consultancy-first approach to build lasting partnerships rather than one-off transactions.
In the role of Commissioning Engineer you are the final critical step between installation and handover. You are the person who ensures everything works properly, completely, and intuitively for the end user. You will be involved right from the design stage through to user training, working closely with pre-sales, project managers, and partners to get systems successfully across the line.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Pre-Project Planning: Review technical drawings and designs prior to hardware ordering to catch discrepancies early, and liaise with partners on infrastructure requirements.
-
On-Site Commissioning: Attend live sites to thoroughly commission and systematically test smart building systems, logging all results on the project asset register.
-
Handover & Training: Deliver user training to partner staff, translating complex technical information into clear instructions, and complete structured handovers to the support team.
-
Continuous Development: Complete regular training to stay ahead of industry trends, emerging technologies, and technical best practices.
What You Bring:
-
Strong technical aptitude and hands-on experience with technical infrastructure or control systems.
-
Exceptional, methodical troubleshooting and diagnostic instincts under pressure.
-
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical users.
-
A full UK driving license and a willingness to work on live construction/delivery sites.
-
Desirable: Experience with control systems (Crestron, AMX, Extron), DSP platforms, or relevant industry certifications.
Our client values individuals who take complete ownership of outcomes rather than just tasks. Whether you are managing an entire project portfolio or fine-tuning an on-site installation, you should be a calm, decisive, and proactive professional who builds trust quickly and leads by example.
